Cisco Twitter Follower THROWDOWN!!

First, there was Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk) versus CNN (@cnnbrk) to see who would be the first twitter account to have 1,000,000 followers…now the next gauntlet has been thrown down.

In his introduction today of Cisco CTO Padmasree Warrior (@Padmasree on twitter), the executive host of CiscoLive!Cisco SVP Carlos Dominguez (@carlosdominguez) challenged her to the NEXT, BIG TWITTER FOLLOWER COMPETITION!!!

@Padmasree is one of the most followed executives on Twitter.  Currently, she has over 650,000 followers.  @CarlosDominguez is…newer to twitter and a little bit behind @padmasree’s twitter following as he currently has 376 followers.  That’s right…not 376,000…not 3,760…376.

His challenge to @Padmasree was this:  He would get to 10,000 followers before she gets to 1,000,000.  The “loser” of this competition will donate $500 to the favorite charity of the winner.  So, hey, everyone wins, right?

So, the gauntlet is now thrown…who’s going to win?  @carlosdominguez?  Or, @padmasree?  My money is on Ashton.  : )

And, of course, if you aren’t already following Cisco on twitter, please do so @CiscoSystems.

John,
I’ve been tracking Padmas’ twitter followers and she is so popular that she got 8,000 new followers yesterday in an 8 hour period.  I think she was sleeping during those hours.

I know that I have my work cut out.  She is much better looking, smarter and a much nicer person than I.  She is a twitter machine and I on the other hand am a twitter abecedarian.

Let the fun begin.  By the way, my money is also on Ashton!

Will you take side bets for charities, too?  If so, I will donate $100.00 to the USO if Padmasree hits a million!  Kind of a 4th of July thing for me.

Sorry Carlos, my money’s on Padma (for the record I’ve followed you both since nearly day-one)but I’ll gladly chip in to Tim’s pot if I could just get 1,000 followers!

Carlos - I’ve added you to our contacts but I think Fred is right - When I created the @rackforce account last week Twitter presented me with Padma’s account as a recommended connection, yours was not in that list. Given that I think she has an unfair advantage over you in this challenge smile

I hope you will all follow @rackforce (shameless marketing ploy there wink) - as we launch our new datacenter next week with Datacenter 3.0 and Nexus 7200 gear smile
