The Platform

Next week during my keynote at the Enterprise 2.0 conference – the industry’s leading collaboration software event – Cisco will have more than a few in the audience scratching their heads.  Why?  Because of our extremely strong presence at the show.  The same company that so many associate with networking, will transform the way people work through a newly integrated collaboration offering.

Cisco will empower customers to choose the right (and best) combination of content, media and devices that will make them most productive through the announcement of three new enterprise collaboration offerings – Cisco Quad, the Cisco Prosumer Video solution and Cisco WebEx Connect IM version 6.5 – all of which work together to create a strong and integrated user experience.

Over the past 25 years, Cisco has progressed from connecting computers to connecting people, and then allowing them to communicate in real time through voice and video over the Internet.  Now that we’ve enabled people to connect and communicate, it’s a natural progression for us to provide ways for them to collaborate.

Collaboration is a $34 billion market because of the broad range of business complexities that organizations are being forced to manage – information overload, communication silos, an increasingly mobile and dispersed workforce, innovation time-to-market, and sustainable growth.  These challenges require organizations to change the way they work, and Cisco is providing them the tools to transform their workspace.

After Cisco’s chief demonstration officer Jim Grubb and I demo Quad at Enterprise 2.0 and show the power of a truly integrated collaboration experience – one that incorporates the Cisco Prosumer Video solution, WebEx Connect, other Cisco products, and even third party apps – the reason for our strong presence at the show will be crystal clear.

For more details on the products in Cisco’s collaboration announcement, see our press release.
