“There’s nothing you can’t do, now you’re in New York” – An Empire State of Mind – JAY Z

JAY Z  opens Barclays Center in Brooklyn next week, with the first of eight consecutive sold out concerts.  Lead by a strategy where the latest technology innovations will fuel engaging fan experiences like never before, Barclays Center will show it knows how to throw a party.  Concertgoers, Brooklyn Nets fans and all other guests visiting Brooklyn’s highly anticipated new arena will enjoy a new generation of fan experiences that complement the world class talent on the stage and hardwood court.

Recent research shows that 75% of fans attending live events are likely to have a mobile device, approximately 50% will take photos with the device, and close to 50% of them want to share their experiences with family, friends and the rest of the world through social media channels like Facebook and Twitter.

With tens of thousands of fans in stadiums and arenas trying to connect through the network to share their experiences and access a host of other media rich applications, it is often challenging to get a reliable connection or any connection at all. How many of you have been at a sports or entertainment event recently where poor reception left you disappointed? (Real Madrid Blog) Cisco and Barclays Center have addressed these complex issues native to high density environments through state-of-the-art technology offerings.

When it opens, Barclays Center will be one of the most technologically advanced arenas in the world.  Brett Yormark (CEO, Brooklyn Nets; President and CEO, Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment), Chip Foley (Director of Building Technology, Forest City Ratner Companies) and their teams will celebrate a vision becoming a reality by making certain Barclays Center delivers the  connected and engaging experience that fans demand.   They have worked hand in hand with us to develop a Connected Sports & Entertainment environment, with custom solutions such as Connected Stadium Wi-Fi, to allow fans to further customize and elevate the overall experience. For example, a Barclays Center app will provide a host of new venue and event based amenities and eventually allow fans to stream live event video.  Another highlight is that fans will enjoy unique perspectives from different camera angles, placing them at the center of the action where they belong.

On Friday, September 28,  JAY Z’s skills and pride will be on display when he takes the stage where the basketball team he owns a part of will play later this fall and return professional sports to Brooklyn (the Dodgers headed west in 1957). But even more, it will set a new bar for the fan experience, all made possible by a single intelligent network.  As JAY Z says, “there’s nothing you can’t do.”
