I’m thrilled to announce that we have completed our acquisition of NDS. As we said when we announced our intent to acquire NDS back on March 15, the Cisco strategy has always been driven by customer need and on capturing market transitions. This acquisition is a textbook example — the addition of NDS’s leading software solutions, combined with its systems integration expertise, will accelerate the delivery of Cisco Videoscape.
NDS is a leader in video software solutions and content security for Pay TV markets with a broad portfolio of products and service integration capabilities. Cisco is a leader in networked video with its architectural approach, breadth of portfolio, network expertise, ability to scale for millions of users, and investments in innovation. Together, Cisco and NDS have the opportunity to transform the video entertainment industry, enabling service providers and media companies to leverage the cloud and drive new monetization opportunities and service differentiation.
Simply put, almost everyone loves video. The video entertainment industry is in the midst of a major market transition with consumers demanding high quality video experiences that are inherently more immersive, engaging, mobile, and social. This market is expected to continue on a trajectory of dramatic growth, with a four-fold increase in video demand over the next three years according to industry estimates. This creates great opportunities for Cisco and our service provider customers, as we partner together to deliver next-generation video experiences to subscribers worldwide.

Cisco’s Video Entertainment strategy leverages Videoscape, Cisco’s TV services delivery platform that uses the network to create a new, immersive home and mobile video entertainment experience through the interworking of cloud, network and client. The NDS product suite and delivery model dovetails nicely with our Videoscape platform; together we will reinvent the TV experience for consumers. Our shared vision focuses on an open architecture, multi-vendor partnerships and customized solutions, protecting customers’ investments today and paving the way for future growth.
