We’re not going to crash? Do I really want to know? TMI!

November 15, 2011 at 8:57 pm PST

A funny thing happened to me on the way to the fair. The Rockwell automation Fair that is.The Pilot comes on the intercom and says something like:

“Hi, it’s the captain here. I want to tell you that we can’t get the flaps into the right position. We need number 15 and we can only get to 14.” (or he said something like that). “We’ve tried a few times and it doesn’t want to move.”

So we (the passengers) are all thinking: “What does that mean – are we going down?” Most of us don’t pilot planes so we don’t know how serious the situation is. Automation Fair begins tomorrow!

Well, this is it folks. The big day has finally arrived and Automation Fair begins tomorrow. Our intrepid team has descended on Chicago at McCormick Place West and is gearing up to show all that Cisco has to offer at booth #239!

We hope you’ve enjoyed all of the social media activity over the last two weeks.

We’ve seen our social media strategy for Automation Fair. We’ve seen Peter Granger describe both Cisco’s presence and booth.  We’ve seen Mark Wylie discuss machine builders. We’ve seen Paul Didier discuss convergence. And, of course, we’ve seen Kevin Davenport tell you why you must attend Automation Fair…or die.

To make things convenient for you to follow our social media activities, we’ve created a Storify instance which will aggregate all of our content creation into one spot. So follow this link to see all of our activity as it unfolds:

Do you like Chicago in November? Do you want to talk to industry experts? Do you want to know how voice, video and data converge on the plant floor?

All answers point to ‘Yes’!

Rockwell Automation Fair is fast approaching. It will be held at the McCormick Convention Center, Chicago, from November 15th-17th. Over 13,000 attendees are expected to attend this annual showcase of manufacturing solutions. The event is free for attendees, and Cisco will have a major presence there.

Watch Kevin Davenport, Cisco Manufacturing Guru, channel his inner old-spice man as he convinces you that attending Automation Fair is an absolute must. Also, be sure to check out all of Cisco’s social media activity planned for the event.

After all, Ike knows convergence, and you should hang with Ike.

An unsung hero

When Steve Jobs passed away on October 5th, the world focused on remembering his creativity, genius and the influence he had on our world.  While this attention was well deserved, another — perhaps more influential – technology luminary passed away on October 12th. But, outside computer science circles, most people have never heard of him.

You had to do a bit of digging, but you could find some great eulogies in the news: Read More »
