We are pleased to announce that the Cisco Industrial Wireless (IW) 3700 Series is the winner of the Control Engineering 2016 Engineers’ Choice Award in the Network Integration – Wireless Products category. Voting was open to over 140,000 industrial engineers responsible for automation, control, and instrumentation technologies. The final voting round for the wireless category included three other newly launched competitive products, with the IW3700 Series ultimately selected as the clear winner.
The IW3700 Series is the new flagship product line for the Cisco Internet of Things (IoT) wireless product portfolio. It was launched in June 2015, as part of the Cisco IoT System. It is the most advanced outdoor and industrial wireless LAN access point family Cisco specifically designed for IoT.
What makes the IW3700 Series particularly exciting for us is seeing the imaginative ways our customers are deploying it in a great variety of unique outdoor and industrial settings. Here are a few of our favorite examples.
Smart Cities – placed outdoors on street posts, in parks, stadiums, and train platforms to deliver public WiFi to residents and visitors
Manufacturing – deployed on the factory floor for AGVs (autonomously guided vehicles) and mobile controllers
Mining and Oil & Gas – mounted on pump trucks, mining haul trucks, dozers, and other industrial vehicles
Transportation – installed in the roof lining of trains to provide passenger WiFi or connect IP cameras for safety and security applications
