Cisco @ CES 2009: New Connected Life Technologies!

Today, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Cisco unveiled multiple products and announcements that will enable a more connected lifestyle. Some of the products, like the Linksys by Cisco Wireless Home Audio system and Media Hub are for sale directly to consumers. The Wireless Home Audio system and the Media Hub look like they’ve come straight from a Digital Cribs webisode. These products make it convenient to uniquely manage and design the way you enjoy the media and entertainment on your home network.Greg Memo, VP/GM, for products from Cisco Consumer Business Group, gives an overview of the Media Hub and Wireless Home Audio launches at CES. To facilitate the increasing capabilities of the home network, Cisco announces the launch of the Cisco Device Connections Program, creating a community of vendors whose products can work with the Cisco home network infrastructure so customers can experience the ultimate media enabled home.By leveraging your media enabled home, or the web, consumers can enjoy the Cisco Eos platform through service providers. Cisco Eos is a hosted, white-label software platform that allows service providers to connect consumers with media laden online communities dedicated to their favorite media and entertainment companies. Cisco at CES

The Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas is just around the corner and Cisco will be there with exciting announcements. Cisco at CES? Cisco is often called a networking giant, though in the last few years the company has made its way into consumer homes through acquisitions like Scientific Atlanta, a set-top box manufacturer, and Linksys, a home networking company. As you can see from watching the Digital Cribs webisodes, Cisco is all about helping consumers to live a connected life. The key to a connected life, is the home network and the technology that lives on it. As consumers accumulate PCs, huge digital music libraries, multiple gaming consoles, printers, digital cameras, and more, the home network becomes increasingly integral to the delivering an enjoyable connected life experience. Digital Cribs Contest with NYU and USC – Vote For Your Favorite Videos Today!

Ken Wirt, vice president of consumer marketing at Cisco, introduces a third Digital Cribs video contest, specifically for NYU and USC students. After the success of Digital Cribs: Heaven or Hell and the Digital Cribs and Filmaka video contest, Cisco has created a third video contest in partnership with New York University’s ProMotion Pictures program and the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. The students submitted three-minute videos that show off the innovative uses of consumer electronics and the home network that make up a ‘digital crib.’ The NYU and USC Digital Cribs videos have been posted on, where you can view and vote on the NYU and USC videos to help determine the winners. Digital Cribs: Heaven or Hell Winners Announced!

Today the winners of the Cisco Digital Cribs: Heaven or Hell video contest have been selected! Two winners were awarded $10,000 (US) for conveying the most entertaining and authentic digital heaven and digital hell. They were selected based on the number of views, average rating, and a panel of judges from Cisco. Ten finalists were also chosen and they will each receive $500 gift cards to Best Buy.The contest is part of Cisco’s”Digital Cribs” Web series, which translates the sometimes mystifying home network to show how consumer technology and the network can enable an extraordinary home experience.
