For those of you who don’t know about the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival, it is a huge festival taking place in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco this weekend. It hosts over 60 bands including Radiohead, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and Jack Johnson. More info here. Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival partnered with Federated Media to create Crowdfire, an ongoing social network that uses visual networking to celebrate music and Outside Lands. On Crowdfire.net, you can upload and share music, video and images taken from your camera at the festival to create your own mashup and remixes. You can see a Crowdfire’s remix on their homepage. image imageYou’ll need to create an account at Crowdfire.net to share and digitally play with the content you capture at the festival. You can also see what other festival attendees are talking about before, during and after the festival in Crowdfire blogs and message boards. Isn’t visual networking fun? :-) Other attractions at Outside Lands can be found here. Crowdfire has also started a graffiti contest on Facebook that is petty cool. You can enter the contest here and check out a couple of my favorite graffiti works of art at the end of this post. imageFollow Crowdfire on Twitter.Follow the DigItAll Consumer on Twitter.imageFacebook page for Outside Lands Music & Arts FestivalCrowdfire Graffiti Contest Entries: By Kim Dowsett Taylor:

  2. your seeing it all come together Johanna! The FB graffiti images are some of my favorite and it was amazing to see over 10,000 pieces of media content uploaded during the festival. (I’m over at FM so have seen this project from idea to it’s unveiling as both a community site and a physical event)

You hit the nail on the head :) Visual Networking seems like a good way to describe how the Crowdfire concept came to be. Instead of trying to create the next great social network, we just followed what crowds at concerts have been doing for the past few years… creating their own media and sharing it with others. Crowdfire is simply a way to help organize and further extend that media, on and off-site.
