Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes…coming to Cisco ūmi

- March 14, 2011 - 2 Comments

You may have seen our recent announcement about the changes we’re making to our home telepresence system, Cisco ūmi. Exciting things are happening with ūmi , and we’re pleased to share the following changes with you:

  • The monthly ūmi service fee is dropping to $9.95, or $99 a year when paid annually.
  • Cisco ūmi (1080p version) is now being sold at a reduced price of $499.
  • We’re introducing a second version of Cisco ūmi  that requires lower bandwidth (1.5 Mbps up and down) and delivers a 720p home telepresence experience.  It will be available this summer for $399.
  • This summer, we will also be offering a free ūmi desktop client for Windows PCs and Macs. With the ūmi client, you will be able to place and receive calls to both ūmi telepresence users and other ūmi desktop client users. You’ll still be able to use your ūmi with Google Video Chat.

ūmi also offers HD recording and sharing on Facebook, Flipshare and YouTube.

Check out this video from Mike Kisch, Cisco’s Director of Consumer Marketing, LIVE on the day of the announcement.

These changes mean that more people will be able to connect in HD, making it even easier to be together with more of your friends and family.. We thank you for all the feedback we’ve gotten and hope that you’re as excited about these changes as we are!

  1. I took advantage of your promotion of 18 months for a 12 month subscription, and now I feel like a fool. I don't see any advantage packages for those of us who were early adopters. Sorry, I can't feel your excitement.

  2. Dear, We are so anxious to see ümi in Europe! When will be able to join in? Best regards, Dietrich
