Catalyst 3000 series is FIPS Certified!

the Global Certification Team is  pleased to announce the Cat3K X-Series has been awarded FIPS validation #1657 and is complete!  We certified the Cisco Catalyst 3560-X and 3750-X Switches running Firmware Version: 15.0(1)SE.

Cisco Catalyst 3750-X and 3650-X Series Switches are enterprise-class stackable switches that provide high availability, scalability, security, energy efficiency, and ease of operation with innovative features such as Cisco StackPower, Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+), optional network modules, redundant power supplies, and MAC security.

FIPS-140 is a US and Canadian government standard that specifies security requirements for cryptographic modules. A cryptographic module is defined as “the set of hardware, software, and/or firmware that implements approved security functions (including cryptographic algorithms and key generation) and is contained within the cryptographic boundary.” The cryptographic module is what is being validated.
