Find yourself sitting in rush-hour traffic watching folks in the carpool lane whiz by? While it is often tempting to ‘cheat,’ it is against the law and you can end up with a rather expensive ticket. Alternatively, you could buy yourself a low emissions vehicle, and with an approved ‘clean air vehicle sticker’ plastered to your rear bumper, drive in the carpool lane all day long. If you are lucky enough to live in an area of California where there are Express or ‘Hot Lanes’ then solo drivers are allowed to drive in the carpool lane during peak hours if they pay a fee.
Enterprises moving traffic across the internet to the public cloud may find themselves in need of an ‘express lane’ with the increasing number of applications being hosted in the public cloud. The Hutchinson Public Schools, located in Hutchinson, Kansas include 11 Elementary, Middle and High schools. The Hutchinson Public Schools adopted Converged Access for their wired and wireless solution, increasing the performance of their network for their staff, teachers and students.
Each of Hutchinson’s Public schools utilize the network and technology as part of the learning experience. When it came time to upgrade their infrastructure, the Hutchinson School District chose Converged Access comprising Catalyst 3850 and 3650, Cisco 5760 Wireless LAN Controller and Cisco Wireless 3700 Access Points. The Camden City School District in New Jersey is made up of 26 Schools with approximately 29 buildings that cater to 12,000 students and 2500 employees. The School District decided to go with Converged Access to enable a single pane of glass for the wired and wireless network, and drive better network performance with 802.11ac.
The Converged Access deployment at the School District is based on Catalyst 3850 and drives 30 Access Points in each Elementary School and 60 Access Points in each High School.
