Educators are increasingly taking control of their professional development by participating in Professional Learning Communities. To celebrate and encourage this trend, the U.S. Department of Education has declared August Connected Educator Month. Cisco is pleased to join more than 60 major education organizations & communities in events & activities that explore the power of professional online communities.
If you’ve never been part of an online community or network before, Connected Educators Month offers a wide array of opportunities to network, learn and collaborate. It is in this spirit that Cisco provides the Connected Learning Exchange (CLX) Community as a platform to foster collaboration and allow educators to share best practices and practical solutions that can dramatically improve education everywhere.
We invite you to join us on August 20, 2012, from 9 am to Noon, U.S. Pacific Time, for an online open house and chat to learn how the CLX Community can support your professional development and help to develop your personal learning network. While there are many benefits to participating in the CLX Community, we are particularly interested in offering the CLX as a platform for educators to create their own Communities of Practice.
Other CLX benefits include:
- Share resources and interact with like-minded colleagues, from around the world, in a rich social networking environment that includes blogs, videos, groups, interactive chats, and discussion forums.
- Participate in Affinity Groups covering a wide variety of topics, such as curriculum, education technology, and instructional pedagogies for next-generation teaching and learning.
- Access free online professional development.
- Be recognized by Cisco and the Community via the CLX Leader Recognition Program.
We hope you’ll join us on August 20th to tour the CLX Community. We’ll use the CLX Chat feature for a real time conversation on how the community can foster connections and collaborations. We also encourage you to sign up to get news and updates on Connected Educator Month.
