We’re at Cisco Live 2011, Las Vegas and have released two Design Considerations documents around Virtual Workload Mobility over the Data Center Interconnect (DCI).
Here’s a little background.. The DCI system has four main components that leverage existing products and technologies and is modular in design, allowing for DCI system to support new and evolving use cases. For the Virtualized Workload Mobility use case, the solution components are shown below.
The Design Considerations documents go over contraints, concerns, items to consider when developing your system.
After the jump you’ll learn a little more about the solutions components, high-level, with direct links to the Design Considerations documents themselves…

” With Cisco Live 2011 beginning Monday, July 11th, it seems like a good time to give a quick update on what to expect from VMware at the event. “Your Cloud for the Human Network” enables customers to speed up their journey to the cloud and adopting virtual desktops to increase flexibility and agility for businesses. And we’ve got a full slate of demos and theater sessions in our World of Solutions booth that highlight the integration between VMware and Cisco that make this real — across datacenter, networking, end-user computing, and cloud. We’ll have presentations every half hour during normal hours of the World of Solutions with VMware speakers covering a range of Cloud Infrastructure and Management, Cloud Applications, and End-user Computing topics. Guest speakers will also join us to cover Vblock solutions, Cisco UCS Express for remote office and branch office as well as integration between Cisco Cloud Portal (formerly known as newScale Service Portal) and VMware vCloud Director.
I hope you are all packed and ready for Cisco Live – Las Vegas next week. In the Sin City we will demo our innovative products and solution architectures that will help simplify and accelerate your journey to private and hybrid clouds. The best way to quickly learn about our products and solutions is by seeing them “LIVE IN ACTION”. With more than 50-60 demos being showcased across different focus areas (e.g. Borderless networks, collaboration, data center etc.) in the Cisco Main Booth, I thought it would be helpful to highlight the data center specific demos.
Dedicated to Cisco Data Center products and solution architectures, we have total of 12 demo kiosks with different themes as listed below. Each of the kiosks will have one or more demos that will highlight Cisco’s unique offering in that focus area. All the kiosks will be staffed by Cisco experts to answer all your tough questions. I am very excited to be part of the show and would love the opportunity to meet you in person. I will be available at the data center demo kiosk 12 -- “Automate and Simplify Your Journey to Cloud”.
