Do you still need Cisco MDS products “behind” Nexus 5000 or 7000, or could you connect a fiber-based SAN straight into the Nexus?

Stefan:

If you are wondering if the MDS serves some sort of gateway function, then, no.  The Nexus 5000 is designed to integrate into your existing LAN and SAN environments without disrupting the upstream network infrastructure.  For more info: http://www.cisco.com/go/nexus5000
