7 at Cisco Live

Do you believe in the power of numbers?

The other day I was struck by the number 7.  At Cisco Live next week, the Cisco Data Center Solutions team is building an amazing demo called “The Data Center of the Future”

As Doug Gourlay explains in his video invitation, we are talking about 24 racks and recreating a data center. The “Data Center of the Future” will include most of the products found in the portfolio of Cisco Data Center solutions, which will also be displayed in 7 demo pods.

But here comes the fun part.

To achieve this “tour de force” (coincidentally starting at the same time as “the tour de France”), Cisco involved 7 companies: APC, EMC, Emerson, NetApp, Oracle, Panduit and VMware.
So It took 7 Cisco partners to put together this “Data Center of the Future”, expressing 4 fundamental values : Innovation, Efficiency, Foresight and Optimization.

While you may argue that having 6 siblings certainly makes this number uniquely important to me,  a quick check at Wikipedia might convince you otherwise.
Seven is the fourth prime number. Not only is it a Mersenne prime (since 23 − 1 = 7) but it is also a double Mersenne prime - since it is itself the exponent for another Mersenne prime (127). It is also a Newman-Shanks-Williams prime, a Woodall prime, a factorial prime, a lucky prime, a happy number and a safe prime.  There are 7 layers in the OSI model.  And it goes on and on

I am sure that you also may have experiences with the number 7 to share
Now consider this – We have 7 options for you to discover in the following weeks about what Cisco means by “Data Center of the Future”

Visit us at Cisco Live. You have three different packages, including a free pass, if you register before Friday June 26. This free pass will not only give you access to the show floor where you will see the “Data Center of the Future” demo first hand, but the pass will also give you free access to the speaker notes and the super sessions.

If you are not able to make it to San Francisco next week, relax – you still can enjoy a series of videos , including a look at the Data Center demos, and the daily blogger Techminute (Omar Sultan, James Uquhart, Chris Hoff)  that we will post on YouTube/ciscodatacenter2009 and on our video website at http://www.cisco.com/go/datacenterlive .

You can also attend Cisco Live online by joining Cisco Live Virtual, with two different options

Now if this coming week finds you unable to attend in person or virtually, the 7 partners of the “Data Center of the Future” invite you on July 15th for a free Virtual conference

Meanwhile enjoy the 7 days of the week, and let’s start the 7th month of the year by staying in touch through Twitter ( ciscodc and hashtag #clsf) , our blog, or on Facebook.
I hope to see you in San Francisco or online in less than 7 days.
