Cisco Survey Tracks Top Cloud Concerns

As the role of cloud computing grows stronger, IT decision makers in 13 countries shared their plans and concerns in a study commissioned by Cisco and distributed by Insight Express.  According to the 2012 Cisco Global Cloud Networking Survey released this week, cloud deployments are expected to increase significantly by the end of 2012.

Highlights of Cisco Cloud Survey results

Organizations with a strong commitment to cloud—those running at least half of all applications on cloud infrastructure—will quadruple by the end of 2012.  The most commonly reported concerns include data protection (72 percent), availability/reliability of applications (67 percent), device-based security (66 percent), visibility and control of applications across the WAN (60 percent), and application performance (60 percent).

The findings are not surprising within Cisco, where engineering and development teams have been steadily building a portfolio of solutions to address these concerns.  Supplying the infrastructure underlying much of the world’s digital connectivity has given Cisco a unique perspective on these challenges.  Without a legacy data center platform to dictate development, Cisco was able to rethink the data center and create a more efficient platform built specifically for virtualized resources and cloud computing.  You can read more in a new white paper: Cisco Unified Data Center: The Foundation for Cloud Infrastructure.

Today Cisco products and solutions help organizations incorporate purchased cloud services or deploy and operate home-grown ones, with greater efficiency, reliability, and flexibility.  You can find out more about Cisco’s solutions for the cloud at www.cisco.com/go/cloud.
