Another Cisco Live is just around the corner! Are you going to be in San Diego? I can’t think of a better backdrop for what will be a packed week full of learning opportunities and the chance to network with peers from across the globe. IT pro’s will converge on the San Diego Convention Center and take in rich, interactive, and educational content in areas ranging from Video, to Networking , Security, Mobility, Collaboration and Data Center.
Front and center will be a focus on Desktop Virtualization and VXI, which will be covered extensively by Cisco and its ecosystem partners, across the exhibit floor, as well as within special technical breakout sessions you need to check out if you’re implementing this technology. If you’re focused on data center infrastructure, pay special attention to these technical breakout sessions:
- BRKVIR-2015 | Architecture Optimizations for Desktop Virtualization
- BRKVIR-2010 | Cisco VXI: An End to End Virtualization System
You’ll also find great VXI breakouts focused on our VXC endpoints, along with our Security, Mobility and BYOD solutions so be sure to check out the session catalog.
Back to Data Center Infrastructure, in addition to the sessions mention above, you have the opportunity to take in helpful theater presentations in the Cisco booth running throughout the week, so please stop by and check it out. As I mentioned above, we have session BRKVIR-2015, presented by my friend Ashok Rajagopalan, Product Manager, Desktop Virtualization at Cisco. If you ever wanted to know what makes for an optimized infrastructure for virtual desktop workloads, and how the latest Unified Computing blade servers are raising the bar on desktop performance, scale and cost-effective manageability, you need to be at this session. Lots of customers have been asking about what our new Intel Romley-based server line does for VDI, and this is the place to learn about it. If you want some reading material for the flight, check out these whitepapers covering our new B200 M3 blades hosting VDI, for both VMware and Citrix
Our friends at the VMware (booth #1626) will have demos on VXI with VMware View, as well as a spotlight on Horizon App Manager and Octopus, along with theater presentations throughout the week. You’ll also have a chance to hear from VMware’s Chris Romano, discussing how to “Build Your Next-Generation End User Workspace” in BRKPCS-4383. Stop by the VMware booth to learn more.
I also want to share some valuable content presented by our friends at NetApp. In addition to some great theater presentations in the NetApp booth (#826) covering our FlexPod solution for VDI, there are 2 great demos they’re hosting: VXI Accelerated on FlexPod, and Citrix XenDesktop with Microsoft Private Cloud. Finally, don’t miss BRKPCS-4381 “University of Tennessee: Virtual Desktop Revolution” to learn how the university leveraged FlexPod to enable on-demand virtual desktop services for 27,000+ students. You should check out their blog at www.singlemaltcloud.com when you get a chance.
There’s a lot more I could get into here, but you’ve probably got enough to deal with this week before heading out, so make note of the sessions above, pack your bags, and safe travels – see you in San Diego!
