In my last installment on Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler, I talked about how our customers have increased their usage of this end-to-end solution by 2-3x.
Based on the upswing of Big Data usage and adoption in the market, this trend is likely to continue for quite some time. And Cisco finds itself with the right solution at the right time.
I’m live here from Strata Conn/Hadoop World 2012 in New York City where “Strata Conference explores the changes brought to technology and business by big data, data science, and pervasive computing. This year, Strata has joined forces with Hadoop World to create the largest gathering of the Apache Hadoop community in the world.” It’s THE place to be for the Big Data and Hadoop geek out.
At this sold out event Cisco is introducing our new 6.1 release of Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler. This new release is packed with new features such as a very cool iPhone app, integration into Amazon EC2 and S3 and a self service portal (stay tuned for more blogs on this later). It also includes a new Hadoop adapter with API integration into Sqoop, Hive, HDFS Data Mover and MapReduce.
What’s that you say? Enterprise workload automation for Hadoop clusters? Why would I need that?
For months and sometimes years you have had to scrounge for resources for your Hadoop ‘science experiment’ and quite possibly you have had your Eureka moment as to how to ‘commercialize’ your pet project. Your boss and your boss’ boss see the value and now want to bring it into the production environment to drive the value of this new data mining tools to the business. Who are you going to turn to when all of the scripts you have written need to be managed by another team and integrated into larger end-to-end data capture, data warehouse, business processing and Business Intelligence workflows.
Cisco has a solution. Not only does Cisco offer validated compute and network infrastructure for Hadoop clusters, it has an integrated approach to managing both data center applications and Big Data workloads. You can learn more about Cisco’s Big Data approach here: Cisco Big Data. And read this new white paper for additional insights: Big Data and the Value of End-to-End Workload Automation with Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler.
To further the ease-of-use and reduction TCO of enterprise Big Data deployments, Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler automates workloads and multiple independent and interdependent jobstreams from a single pane of glass. This scalable, n-tier, dependency driven solution will make the transition of your Hadoop science project scripts to an easy to deploy and easy to use end-to-end workload automation solution easy, allowing you to invent a whole new way of extracting value from data.
Stay tuned for more blog updates on Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler version 6.1.
