Are you maximizing your technology with firmware updates? Make sure you take full advantage of the latest and greatest features of your Linksys router by upgrading your firmware when new enhancements are available. If you own a Linksys E-Series router and are using the included Cisco Connect software, you will be prompted when new updates are available when you open the program, and can simply click “ok” at this point.
For all other routers, or for those who choose not to use Cisco Connect software, manual updates are available on the web. Once you download what you need, check out the following steps for updating your firmware manually:
- Login into the router (type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser)
- Click on the Administration tab
- Click the Firmware Upgrade sub-tab
- Select the firmware file that was downloaded from the web
- Click on Firmware Upgrade button
If your router is performing more slowly, freezing, or dropping the Internet connection, a firmware upgrade may be in order to help correct the issue.
I just wanted to say that yes the web site does help out and give you updates and firmware, but if you have an older mod wrt54g they wont help you out cuz Its OLD! Ive been trin to get this taken care of for a year now
