Visual Networking with Cisco and the Flip Camera

Visual networking becomes a larger part of our lives everyday and it pleases me to write that after much speculation, Cisco has announced the intent to acquire Pure Digital, the makers the Flip Video™ line of video recorders. (Click here to view the release.)
The Flip cameras are famous for their mass consumer appeal and a sleek, yet simple approach to high quality video. I’ve personally used the Flip cameras for over a year and I think they are the ideal accessory for visual networking because they allow you to instantly upload HD video directly to your computer, then easily edit and post your video online in a matter of minutes with Flipshare software. You literally only needed to press one button to record and are never bothered by rather lugging around a huge camera bag and tripod.
Flip video cameras will retain their product name under the Cisco brand, which supports other visual networking products, such as Cisco by Linksys routers. At CES, Cisco announced multiple product announcements that enable a connected life, which extend the intelligence of the home network and deliver new entertainment and communication experiences. Pure Digital’s history of providing the next level of digital consumer experiences makes the company a perfect addition to Cisco’s consumer line of products.
Here are a few videos, from Cisco executives, that were filmed with the Flip Mino camera in HD and highlight today’s announcement:
