Virtual Meetings = Green Visual Networking

YouTube and Animoto make visual networking tons of fun, but visual networking also delivers substantial value in the form of virtual meetings. I use virtual meetings often through Meeting Place and Cisco WebEx, mostly because I work on a team spread around the world. I caught up with a few other professionals in the Bay Area to talk about how they use virtual meetings and what they think of its value.

Telecommuting is where it is at. I think most jobs will be based around telecommuting. If you think about the advantages of Internet based business (low overhead) a company that emphasized telecommuting will recieve the same monetary benefit.

Thanks for the comment John! You have a good point about the low overhead. VoIP phones and web conferencing can save a business or individual significant cash.

I like being able to work from home if I want to, partly because I feel like a different person when I don’t sit for an hour in traffic! -Johanna

An important element of visual networking that I see as immediately tangible to all users is the familiarity that can develop utilizing VN; even when P2P interaction hasn’t yet happened. Web conferencing and VoIP enables users to seamlessly connect to their network and Apps like Adobe Air are allowing for web-based interaction while offline and without using a browser!
