New Generation Television

Some really Interesting news crossing the wires today heralds a new wave of content access for consumers giving them what they want to see, where they want to see it. Telecom Italia Selects Cisco and Adobe for Delivery of Next-Generation ‘Web TV’ Services

As this evolution proceeds, just exactly what else should we expect to see over the coming months?  Product placement on Bebo perhaps? Banner advertising on the EPG? (I think there is a gap in the market there).  Well, these are just a couple of questions raised at a recent panel discussion on Visual Networking: The Evolution of Social Networks.  This forum is where the new players such as support.com, MoreTV, Shinymedia and WorldTV.com mixed with established players like Texas Instruments, DT and Toshiba and shared ideas on the new generation of business models shaping the digital landscape today.

Two key discussion points were The New Generation and Monetising Visual Network - see this first video for more.

Alongside Fernando Gil de Bernabé, Managing Director, Strategy and Consumer, IBSG, Cisco sat Udo Biro, IPTV Product Manager Nokia Siemens Networks, Stefan Jenzowsky, CEO, MoreTV, Alx Klive, Founder and CEO, WorldTV.com, Ashley Norris, Founder, Shiny Media and Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates.  The most interesting businesses to me personally were WorldTv and MoreTV - both innovative and niche companies have created business models based around what the consumer wants - I’d like to see where they are this time next year.

For a round up of the event check the Parks blog

We also caught up with some of the panellists to get their views on Visual Networking here.

If you think you have an interesting model for this new generation of television and video - tell us about it!
