Home Network Connection Slowing Down? Find Out Why and Fix it

image

Home network speed can vary for multiple reasons depending on the activities taking place on the connection. Say you log onto your favorite home page, as you so often do, and your internet connection seems to be much slower. Immediately, a few questions run through your mind:

• Is the Internet just super-busy today?
• Did one of the kids just start streaming a video?
• Is a lazy neighbor piggybacking on your home network connection?

There are ways to take the guesswork out of situations like this. You could log onto websites that help you determine the factors potentially affecting your home network speed: upload and download time, transfer rate, and even latency. Or you could call your Internet Service Provider troubleshooting the problem.

Not interested? We don’t blame you, particularly when there’s a much easier way to diagnose a connection problem on your home network, at a specific time on a specific day, AND fix it.

Speed Meter Pro 1.3 is a downloadable software utility that helps you diagnose and manage your wireless, network and Internet connection so you can optimize your connected experience. It will scan your entire network, identify the source of network slowdowns, allow you to fix the problem and optimize your network for speed and productivity. It will also monitor your network proactively to identify issues that need immediate attention – before they become bottlenecks.

For example, every hour, Speed Meter Pro tests performance and network usage, including Internet upload and download speeds, transfer rates (the speed between two computers on your network). If there’s a problem – slow download speed, for example – Speed Meter Pro will alert you of the problem and explain – in plain English – how to fix it.

What if the problem just seems to be occurring on one website? Speed Meter Pro will monitor up to four websites you designate, to see if the slowdown is on your end or the website server’s end.

Speed Meter Pro can be installed on up to eight PCs at once (it will identify Macs on your home network, but cannot monitor their performance). A no cost seven-day trial is downloadable here.

Hi Darick,

I spoke briefly with support, they tell me the uninstaller should clean up those icons. The easiest possible solution would be to reinstall, then re-un-install.

If that doesn’t work, or you get any error message, it would be best to contact support directly at:

Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm Pacific Time
Sat-Sun, 11am-4pm Pacific Time

Best,

Johanna
