Where is the Cloud Collaboration Market Heading?

The hosted services market has seen tremendous growth over the past year. In particular, Cisco’s own Hosted Collaboration Solution has received the greatest validation from service providers, including key deployments with Verizon earlier this year and Orange Business Services recently announcing their Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) in June. Businesses are now realizing the value of providing a rich suite of collaboration applications that are accessible anywhere, on any device.

The next question remains, once these solutions are developed and initially adopted, what’s the next innovation in the market that will keep current customers, while attracting potential ones?

There’s no denying that mobile devices are a part of everyday business life. With many users accessing business applications and resources via their personal smartphones, tablets and laptops, it’s only natural for the next iteration of cloud collaboration to stretch into the mobile realm.

In a recent study conducted by Cisco’s independent research arm, The Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG), it was revealed from those surveyed that business users will be key adopters of mobile cloud services.

Already adept at PC-based cloud services such as video sharing and web conferencing, business users are expected to outpace consumers in performing activities on their mobile phones, quickly adopting services such as mobile conferencing, document management and any other applications that will allow them to extend the boundaries of their office.

The future looks bright for the cloud collaboration market as the advantages of mobility blend into this growing industry. Only time will tell what new innovations will come to this market, but one thing is for sure: the enterprise collaboration market is growing and changing at a faster pace than ever before.

  1. My query after reading and understanding this article about marketing is that why does cisco not start marketing courses equivalent to MBA or CFA. This will help in technical as well as commercial development of cisco.

  2. I agree more companies have started to realize the importance of cloud computing. Now more business organizations specially service providers would be heading towards using any time business apps so that the hassle of office timings do not hinder customer satisfaction.
