John Chambers is Chairman and CEO of Cisco Systems. Since January 1995, when he assumed the role of CEO, Chambers has grown the company from US$1.2 billion in annual revenues to its current run-rate of approximately US$35 billion. In November 2006, he was named Chairman of the Board, in addition to his CEO role. Chambers has been lauded by government leaders and countless publications worldwide for his visionary strategy, his ability to drive an entrepreneurial culture, and his warm-hearted, straight-talking approach. He has received numerous awards for his leadership, including two-time winner of the "Best Investor Relations by a CEO" award by Barrons and IR Magazines, the Best CEO in America in the “Telecommunications, Data Networking” category by Institutional Investor magazine, and the 2005 International Partner award from the California Israel Chamber of Commerce, the Smithsonian Lifetime Achievement award, and the Presidential Award: Ron Brown Award for Corporate Leadership from the Business Council. He was also named "The Most Influential CEO" in telecommunications by Institutional Investor magazine and "The Most Influential Person in Communications" by Telecom Magazine. San Jose Magazine voted Chambers "Man of the Year" in 2005. In addition to his business leadership, Chambers is active in philanthropic activities worldwide. In late 2006, in partnership with the U.S. State Department, Chambers co-led a delegation of U.S. business leaders to form the Partnership for Lebanon, helping provide critically needed resources for the ongoing reconstruction efforts in Lebanon. He has also accepted the prestigious Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE) from Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for Cisco’s co-sponsorship of the Jordan Education Initiative, which Cisco has worked on in partnership with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and the World Economic Forum. Additionally, Chambers has received the "Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship" from the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars of the Smithsonian Institution, and the Excellence in Corporate Philanthropy Award from the Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy (CECP), an international forum of CEOs focused on corporate philanthropy. He has spearheaded several other key educational efforts, including the 21st Century Schools (21S) initiative, to improve education and opportunity for children in the Gulf Coast Region affected by Hurricane Katrina. Chambers has served two American presidents; most recently as Vice Chairman of the President George W. Bush National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC), where he provided industry experience and leadership to help protect the United States’ critical infrastructure. He also served on President George W. Bush's Transition Team and Education Committee, and previously served on President Bill Clinton's Trade Policy Committee. Chambers joined Cisco in 1991 as senior vice president, Worldwide Sales and Operations. He assumed the role of President and CEO in 1995. Prior to joining Cisco, he spent eight years at Wang Laboratories (1982-1990) and six years with IBM (1976-1982). He holds a law degree (1974) and a Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Arts degree (1971) in business from West Virginia University. Chambers later received a Masters of Business Administration degree in finance and management (1975) from Indiana University. He is married and has two adult children. As Vice President of Enterprise and Mid-Market Solutions at Cisco Systems, Alan Cohen is responsible for developing and driving Cisco Systems’ global Enterprise market strategy. This includes accelerating the integration of technologies and the adoption of cross technology solutions with a focus on delivering scalable, industry-based vertical solutions. Prior to his current role, Cohen led Mobility Solutions at Cisco, where he was responsible for guiding the adoption of the Cisco wireless portfolio and development of the corresponding applications and services that make mobility a leadership initiative at Cisco. A thought leader with a long history in the mobile and wireless industry, Cohen also led product management for Cisco’s Wireless Business Unit, launching the Cisco Unified Architecture and bringing it to a leading position in the industry. Before that Cohen was the Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Airespace, a pioneering wireless LAN systems company that was acquired by Cisco. Cohen held an executive leadership role at Tahoe Networks where he launched the company’s mobile Internet activities, his responsibilities ranging from developing its mobile edge router to establishing its worldwide presence and brand. He has also held executive and senior leadership roles at IBM, US West, and Coopers & Lybrand; in addition he has held senior management positions at Cisco, where he led key service provider initiatives including Internet OSS, New World Ecosystem, and Internet Business Solutions. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from State University of New York at Buffalo, a Master of Arts degree from American University's School of International Service, and a master of business administration from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business. He is a member of the board of directors for GGP - General Growth Properties, a Fortune 500 company. Joe Burton is Chief Technology Officer in Cisco’s Voice Technology Group. His team is responsible for technical strategy and advanced research for Unified Communications at Cisco. During his career at Cisco, Joe has led the development of many of Cisco’s Unified Communications products including MeetingPlace voice, video, and data conferencing products, IPVC video conferencing, IP Communicator, Unified Advantage, Cisco Unified Personal Communicator, productivity application integrations, and Cisco Unity Connection integrated voice messaging products. Additionally, he led the Cisco-wide Voice Systems Architecture group that coordinates standards development and architecture for all voice products at Cisco. Previously, he was the Chief Architect for Cisco's messaging products, including the Unity unified messaging system. Before joining Cisco, Joe was the Chief Architect for Active Voice Corporation, a leading provider of voice messaging systems. Ross Daniels Director, Solutions Marketing Cisco Systems, Inc. img>
Ross Daniels is the Director of Contact Center Solutions Marketing. In this capacity, Mr. Daniels is responsible for product positioning, solution messaging, and go-to-market activities for Cisco Unified Contact Center solutions. Mr. Daniels joined Cisco as part of its November 1999 acquisition of WebLine Communications. While at WebLine, he held a variety of technical sales and marketing roles. At Cisco, he has been a CTI Product Manager, a Product Marketing Manager, and most recently the Manager of Product Management for Cisco’s enterprise and hosted contact center solutions. Prior to joining Cisco, Mr. Daniels spent several years in the business-to-business advertising industry. A regular speaker at industry events, Cisco events, and customer briefings, Mr. Daniels has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Harvard University and a Masters in Business Administration from Babson College. Prior to joining Cisco in July of 2006, Phil spent five years working as a senior communications consultant with San Francisco-based SNP Communications.
