The Service Oriented Data Center

- November 16, 2009 - 0 Comments

The service-oriented data center plays a critical role in the global data center strategy.  Cisco does this by meeting the demands of capacity on a global scale, addressing business continuity needs, and driving business transformation through IT.

With the SODC approach Cisco is able to reduce costs through automation and have network, storage, and server resources shared accross multiple business units giving the ability to provision resources from a single pool.

The steps in deploying a SODC include three phases:
1) Consolidation
2) Virtualization
3) Automation

With these steps in place, Cisco IT can respond to rapidly changing business requirements within just three days.
