Roughly one year ago, Cisco was one of the first global companies to launch its own collaboration solution – we deployed our integrated workforce experience (IWE) powered by Cisco Quad across our enterprise to 110,000 employees and contractors worldwide. Today, I’m thrilled to report that IWE Powered by Cisco Quad 2.5 has launched – a significant upgrade that offers new capabilities, making it easier than ever before for our teams to collaborate together.
If you’ve been following my blog, you know that IWE is the combination of connecting the right people, resources and content; communicating more effectively and efficiently; collaborating internally and externally; and learning from all. Our goal is to drive productivity, growth and innovation.
Our platform upgrade to Cisco Quad 2.5 does the following:
- Offers new capabilities that make it easier to create and share information with relevant people and communities
- Makes it easier to find and keep up with information and activities shared by all team members, community members, and project teams – all in one view
- Provides a ‘home base’ for the work day with access to information, people, tools and applications needed, saving time and enhancing productivity
- Improves global performance and includes a single sign-on
Why are we doing this? Because collaboration will transform how we work – effectively using social networking capabilities (chat, video, tagging, blogging) and incorporating them into our transactional systems and overall workflow to make us more efficient, effective, and speed our growth and innovation.
IWE powered by Cisco Quad is a work in progress – by no means are we done. It will continue to evolve and improve. We aim to surprise and delight our users, delivering a better user experience. Many of our new features and functionality are a result of the substantive, meaningful comments and suggestions we’ve received from employees. Employee feedback has been critical to us as we develop IWE.
On the business side, it’s been very gratifying to see several of our major customers who agree with our collaboration approach and are launching Cisco Quad in their own organizations. This includes customers as diverse as Duke University, a global law firm based in Australia, and Nike, among others. No matter what industry or sector, collaboration is pervasive.
