Enterprise Connect Recap: Smart Desk Phones, WebEx, TelePresence, and More!
In March, I make an annual journey from Dallas to Orlando – not to visit that famous mouse or take a Spring break. No, I am there with thousands of IT, telecom, and networking professionals who have descended upon Orlando to attend Enterprise Connect, the leading conference and expo on enterprise communications and collaboration.
This year, both Jimmy Ray and Robb (along with the amazing TechWiseTV crew) joined me to capture all of the excitement, announcements, and cool demos.
If you missed the conference, don’t fret. We have all of the highlights here!
First, I caught up with Rob Lloyd immediately after his keynote to get the scoop on the Internet of Everything and how it will impact businesses.
During the conference, Cisco announced software advancements that enable customers to reach up to 70 percent greater efficiencies from their existing collaboration infrastructure and also highlighted how we are making TelePresence and WebEx work better together. You can now extend TelePresence meetings to external users through a single WebEx link and use one interface to schedule a combined TelePresence and WebEx meeting – at no extra cost!
We also unveiled our latest addition to the enterprise desktop: the DX650. It’s an Android based phone that delivers voice functionality, high-definition 1080p video, and many features commonly associated with today’s smartphones.
One of the hottest topics at Enterprise Connect was WebRTC, and Jimmy Ray spoke with Paul O’Dwyer to find out why.
They also snagged an interview with Cisco Fellow Cullen Jennings who led a standing room only WebRTC tutorial.
And let’s not forget the latest release of Business Edition 6000, which now offers Prime Collaboration and a new paging server.
Last, but not least, if you need to ensure high availability in a centralized or distributed SIP trunking environment, this segment is for you.
It was a busy, but exciting week! I can’t wait to do it again. I’ve already put a placeholder on my calendar. Maybe I’ll see you there next year!Tags:
