We continue to build momentum this week as we brought January 2014 to a close. Can you believe we’ve already wrapped up an entire month of the New Year already? As always, here’s to keeping you up to date:

Off the Top

We saw a great deal of news coming out of Milan this week at Cisco Live. I had cherry picked some blogs and announcements of interest to partners in my post this week, but that was only the tip of the iceberg. In addition to what I pulled together on Tuesday, don’t miss these blogs that came out of Cisco Live this year:

If you don’t already follow @cisco_channels on Twitter, you might have missed our nod to Karen Walker and Denny Trevett, who presented on Monday. Be sure to follow us on Twitter to stay up-to-date on all of our partner-related events.

One of the big announcements at Cisco Live this year came from Rob Lloyd’s announcement of our expansion of the Cisco Cloud Portfolio to enable open and secure cloud experiences. Edison Peres dropped by the blog this week to give us an update on Hybrid IT and this latest cloud announcement from Cisco.

Evolving to Cloud and Hybrid IT

Edison has been promoting a Hybrid IT business model to partners for some time now. With customers consuming IT differently, the Internet of Everything (IoE) offers opportunity, but does require a new set of services and solutions than what our partners have traditionally provided. Read More »

Evolving to Cloud and Hybrid IT

For a while now, I’ve been promoting that partners need to adopt a Hybrid IT business model to be successful and stay competitive in a world with more market transitions, more technologies, and more customer choices than ever before.

Customers are consuming IT differently, and line-of-business decision makers have more and more influence on IT decisions. The Internet of Everything offers tremendous opportunity, but requires a new set of services and solutions than many of our partners have offered in the past.

A Hybrid IT business model requires partners to address these market transitions; to provide traditional IT (on premise) solutions, managed services, private/public/hybrid cloud services, packaged with professional services, and offered with different SLAs and consumption models.

Embracing this model opens new opportunities for partners. It may mean expanded reach. It may mean selling into a new vertical, a new geography, or addressing new business needs within an existing customer base.

At Cisco Live Milan this week, Cisco announced the expansion of the Cisco Cloud Portfolio  with the introduction of new products and services, including a new hybrid cloud solution, Cisco InterCloud. Cisco InterCloud aims at lowering the total cost of cloud ownership and creating new pathways to secure public, private and hybrid clouds. Read More »

Cisco Partner Weekly Rewind – January 24, 2014

January 24, 2014 at 7:36 am PST

Partner-Weekly-Rewind-v2Each week, we’ll highlight the most important Cisco partner news and stories, as well as point you to important, Cisco-related partner content you may have missed along the way. Here’s what you might have missed this week:

Well it’s cold. The Polar Vortex strikes the US again and as I sit here in North Carolina, it is 29 degrees outside! But it already feels like communications and events are heating up now that we are on a collision course with spring. As we all bide our time for warmer weather, let’s take a look back at this week.

Off the Top

We had the honor this week of working with Senior Director of Cisco Global Adoption and Seller Readiness Thomas Winter on posting a great blog that should be of interest to a lot of our partners. Thomas’ blog about our Cisco Commerce Workspace (CCW) transformation highlights how we took 21 disparate tools and pared them all down into one. The focus here is on ease of doing business with Cisco but there is also fantastic information on large-scale IT implementation and Thomas does a great job showing what worked for us.

Be sure to check out the blog from Thomas and join in the conversation. Let us know what you think of the new CCW. Read More »

Cisco Commerce Workspace Adoption: Cisco’s Commitment to Ease of Doing Business & Five Best Practices for Driving System Transformation

The recent transformation to Cisco Commerce Workspace (CCW) was a significant change for our channel partner community, as the capabilities of 21 disparate commerce tools were consolidated into a single platform.  As of October 2013, our partners now have one tool for quoting, configuring and ordering Cisco products, software and services. For many partners, the consolidation of business processes into CCW has resulted in faster bookings and significant productivity gains.  Due to the cycle time decrease enabled by CCW from the point of quote creation to order processing, partners are achieving productivity improvements of up to 25 percent.

CCW IG

While CCW has already provided measurable efficiency gains to both Cisco and our partner community, it also offers a robust IT infrastructure to support new business models and future ease-of-doing-business (EoDB) improvements. Over the next year, plans are in place to further enhance CCW to process software subscription renewals, facilitate WebEx ordering and offer increased collaboration capabilities between Cisco sales teams and our partner sellers.
