IT Forecast: Cloudy with a Chance of Collaboration

This week, we continue with our coverage of XChange 2012, where UBM Channel presented the Annual Report Card Awards. While on site at the event in Texas, we had a chance to talk about cloud with our partners as well as trends they’re seeing.

In this video, we chat it up with Cisco partners Ed Greenberg of Alliant Technologies, Mont Phelps of NWN, David Powell of TekLinks, and Peter Valters of Empowered Networks. Watch as they share their thoughts about the rush to the cloud—including the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Want to know what else they had to say?

One thing is clear. Partners recognize that nearly everything seems to be moving into the cloud. Customers increasingly realize this as well. The challenge for them, however, is how to effectively move from their current infrastructure to a hosted option.

Hosted Collaboration Solution is the answer for many partners, enabling them to offer their own cloud and collaboration services. “When Cisco introduced the potential opportunity to provide HCS solution, we jumped on it,” said Phelps.

And it’s not just about revenue, though the cloud market is huge. It’s about helping customers navigate this transition. And with Cisco on their side, partners feel confident in their ability to do just that.

“We have great support from Cisco,” said Powell. “We’re able to take advantage of the expertise that we have and the relationships we’ve had with Cisco to power [the cloud] side of our business, and we really have a great offering as it relates to both on premise and cloud. Cisco’s a very key part of that relationship.”

Security is also an important component of cloud. Partners point out that cloud offerings are highly secure with biometric access to server rooms. In fact, many customers are turning to cloud-based solutions because of increased security in a world that is becoming ever more mobile

At Cisco, we look forward to continuing to help our partners succeed. And one measure of success is your trust and willingness to partner with us every day.

We took home 16 of those awards—more than any other company and it was the first time in our history that we won in every category we entered.

Thank you, Partners! We enjoyed talking with you at the event, and so appreciate your votes.
