What You Need to Know About Cisco’s Smart Grid Partner Ecosystem

What if we could fundamentally change the way we consume energy and green our planet? Yesterday we announced a Partner Ecosystem for Smart Grid that will help us do just that. While this announcement has big implications for energy consumption, what implications does it have for you, our partners?

We sat down with Steve Benvenuto—Cisco’s Director of Emerging Technologies and New Markets—who shared his insights around this important announcement, what it means for you, and our strategy.

In the video, he talks about a collection of like-minded companies and partners coming together to drive IP adoption of the smart grid. In the initial stages, we’re sharing our Smart Grid strategy with a number of expert partners, learning from them what it will take to be successful, then evolving the strategy as we take it out into the market together.

Smart Grid is one of Cisco’s 30 market adjacencies, offering tremendous opportunities. And by taking a measured, focused approach with the launch, we’re setting everyone up for success—both now and in the future.

Steve, we’re glad to be part of the announcement.  There are so many win-win aspects to the entire Smart Grid initiative: cost savings, energy savings, IP adoption, environmental benefits, partner collaboration, etc. I comment briefly on the Smart Grid and WWT’s participation here: http://bobolwig.wordpress.com/2009/09/21/cisco-smart-grid-partner-ecosystem/
