What Do You Want to Ask Keith Goodwin?

image

Since cautiously dipping his toe into Twitter six months ago, Cisco Worldwide Channels Senior VP Keith Goodwin now considers himself a social media convert. It’s not just Twitter, but video and blogs, too. As he sees it, these tools are an opportunity to learn more from partners, listen, communicate, interact, and even let everyone know about a recent biking accident.

In fact, Keith is so wowed by these communication tools that he’s taking it to the next level and inviting your questions. Over the next two weeks, we’ll be collecting your questions to Keith, and then he’ll pick several to answer via video blog. So here’s your chance to ask Keith a question, any question (within reason). Either tweet your questions to Keith (@keitheg) or post them in the comments below.

Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.

Please post your questions below. And, to stay informed and receive an alert when we update this blog, please subscribe to the RSS feed.

Hi Keith,
We are an alliance partner of Cisco.  I personally enjoy this blog and your tweets.  A question that we have is on Cisco’s channel strategy on cloud computing.  What is your view on the resellers’ place in light of the gradual change of customers’ buying trend toward IT as a service.  What is your advice for the VARs?

Hi Keith,

We have 4 fiber optic networking/infrastructure patents that the inventor claims will do for the FO industry what Cisco did for the Internet. We will use these patents for our new fiber optic (middle and last mile) infrastructures. This opens a new world for FO networking.

Now, looking around in the world of next generation switching… I am interested in 10 GbE switches. The issue here is that it should be for residential and office users, i.e. fiber to the home/office at 10 Gbps per connection. So, I asked many people the following: (see linkedin - http://tr.im/s8vg)

1. What do you think will be the cost per port (10 GbE) in the next 12, 24, 36 months respectively?
2. How can you configure this (qua port density per switch, switching frames, plant etc.) best?

I left out the 3rd and 4th questions because they would not be something you like. wink

I thank you in advance.

Regards,

Neal

Hi Keith
We have read that Cisco is developing a strategy to go direct to some global accounts under Cisco 3.0 (WalMart,Barclays, Ford, Amex, etc.). Ehat will be the implications regarding integrators?

Hi Keith,
it’s me again!. A couple more questions:
Could you elaborate on how you see the evolution and plans of Cisco relations with Partners that provide top Managed Services (such as Unitronics) and are not Service Providers?
How are going to evolve Cisco Advanced Services, specially in areas such as managed Telepresence, and how will they affect partners?
Are you planning any special program to take advantage of the Nortel-Avaya situation and go for Nortel infraestructure at clients?

Hi Keith
These will be the last two questions… at least for today:
Could you elaborate on the new MidMarket Strategy and Organization at Cisco and its implications for partners?
If you have to choose three Cisco technologies (Connected Real State, Videosuveillance, ...) to invest in to build a greater future together, which ones would they be?

When do we expect to see some answers? And where are they going to be posted?

Alexandra Krasne Aug 6, 2009

Hi everyone, and thanks for submitting your thought-provoking questions.

Keith is scheduled to record his video response and we’ll be posting it soon (within the next two weeks). The video will be featured right here on this blog.

This is the last chance to submit your questions. If you haven’t posted a question yet, please respond here before the weekend.

Keith won’t be able to answer all questions in his video, but your queries may inform upcoming blog posts and videos. So don’t be shy!
