Tweets Speak Louder than Words

At Cisco, we leverage collaboration technology to create new communication channels with our partners. At our upcoming Partner Summit in June, we will encourage and teach our partners to use collaboration and social media tools, including Twitter. (You can follow Partner Summit tweets on Twitter by searching for the #ciscops09 hash tag.)

My first entry into social media was a few months back when I signed up for Twitter. You should have seen the look on my wife’s face the first time I told her, “I just tweeted.”

What I like about Twitter is that you get to decide if you want to follow me, as opposed to me overloading your inbox with email messages. And, after spending the last few weeks traveling from Dallas to Korea to Bahrain for Cisco Partner Executive Exchanges, I hear you loud and clear telling me, “my mailbox is overloaded with Cisco stuff,” and that we need to work even harder to improve our partner communications—perhaps even finding different ways to communicate with you.

Now you can follow me, as well as several of the Channels execs who also have Twitter accounts, by clicking their names along the right under Related Links. Among Cisco tweeters we’re highlighting are: our VP of WW Channels Marketing Luanne Tierney, Senior VP of WW Channels in the US and Canada Wendy Bahr, and our VP of Distribution Dave O’Callaghan.

Please post your comments below and include your Twitter accounts so we can all follow each other and keep the lines of communication open.

It’s great to see our channel leadership using twitter. I just recorded an interview with a Channel Partner, Netarx on how they use Twitter and other social media tools to connect with customers, partners and future employees. You can watch the video here. http://www.vimeo.com/4670519

Ken,
Agree.  Twitter is a great way to keep up on what’s happening in the industry.
Cisco is clearly out front in the use of social media.
Thanks

Glad to see a multi-media channel blog!
Social Media for corporations is a new frontier in marketing.  We are all learning and experimenting on how to execute a great programs and make meaningful interactions with our partners.

I agree with also. I do not have a twitter account because I never saw the need to have one but after looking at things with a different perspective, I see now how this can be very useful.

I am an avid twitter user, and I have found that it has had many benefits for my business. It has increased my leads and sales by at least 45%
