Top 7 Takeaways from Partner Summit 2009
Much like Cal Ripken in baseball Brett Favre in football, in my 11 years at Cisco I have yet to miss a Partner Summit—giving me one of the longest streaks in company history.
My record for consecutive years at Partner Summit has given me valuable perspective and insight and, as we close out the 13th annual Summit in Boston, I’d like to share with you my key takeaways. I also encourage you to visit this blog over the coming weeks as we’ll be highlighting Partner Summit keynotes and top partner videos, as well as executive and guest speaker interviews.
My top 7 takeaways…
1) Together we are leading through these tough global economic times.
2) Navigate to Accelerate is our global partner stimulus package, helping partners focus on finance, customer base, changing customer needs, and preparing for future growth.
3) Channel partners are more critical to Cisco’s success than ever.
4) Video changes everything.
5) We compete with HP.
6) Together we are leading Web 2.0 with 10,000 posts to Partner Summit’s social media platform The Vibe.
7) And, finally: 30 market adjacencies + $3 multi-billion dollar (USD) architectural plays (collaboration, virtualization, and borderless networks) = Time to Grow.
Those were mine. Now, what are your key takeaways from Partner Summit 2009?

#8: Press releases are old news. Many times, the real news surfaces on social media sites or blogs ... whether from Cisco, or from anonymous bloggers who spend far too much time on the web.
