Breaking Partner News

Between his recent travels to Dallas, Korea, and Bahrain to attend Cisco Partner Executive Exchanges and planning for the annual Partner Summit in June, I was able to grab a few “behind the scenes” minutes in the Cisco studio with Keith Goodwin, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Channels. I asked Keith to give us a quick recap of where we’ve been and shed some light on the channels news Cisco is publicly launching today. Watch the video to hear what he had to say.

Read the highlights of today’s announcements after the jump.

  • For Gold, Silver and Premier partners, we are globally, expanding our Core Accelerator Promotion, to provide partners with a 15-percent incentive on qualified switching and a 5-percent incentive on qualified routing products based on net OIP/SIP booked value.
  • For Select Certified partners, we are increasing our Partner Development Funds, allowing you to earn an incentive on select switching and routing products.
  • For distributors, we are offering enhancements to our Consistent Incentive Rebate, which offers aggressive incentives for exceeding your base target in switching.
  • And, for all Partners we announced a Limited Lifetime Warranty across the Catalyst 3560-E, 3750-E, 4500, and 4500-E Series switches.

What do you think of these initiatives? Will they help you focus on the core install base?

I will be interested to learn more about how Cisco channel partners are preparing to offer managed services, hosting services, and evolving cloud services.

The limited lifetime warranty is a net positive to Cisco’s overall value equation for customers.  It allows partners to engage customers about their current cost of ownership for their aging infrastructure.  When you couple it with the increased core router and switching incentives that Cisco has announced, it’s a win win for everyone.
