VMworld is underway in San Francisco this week—this annual IT conference brings together thousands of attendees to hear about the latest developments in cloud computing and new applications for virtual environments. And as you, our partners, likely know, Cisco and VMware provide innovative and integrated solutions specifically designed for virtualization. In fact, Cisco is a Global Diamond sponsor of VMworld 2010.
Attendees are getting the opportunity to hear from a number of speakers as well as to attend breakout sessions, but for those unable to make the trek to San Francisco, lots of useful information has been posted to the VMworld website. There are webcasts of general sessions, YouTube interviews from VMworldTV, and a community for sharing information. A live video stream within the community also shows talks and discussions as they are taking place throughout the day. If you want to follow the latest goings-on via Twitter, look for the #vmworld hashtag.
So what’s in it for Cisco and our partners? Here’s what you need to know:
For starters, Cisco has a booth at VMworld, complete our suite of data center solutions, as well as in-booth theater presentations that demonstrate collaboration with partners and customers.
Partners can also learn more about the hot topics at VMworld—this blog takes a look at how VMworld impacts service providers. And our sister blog Data Center Networks has had plenty of day-to-day coverage of the event, including interviews and summaries, as well as a discussion of the importance of the partner ecosystem that Cisco and VMware are creating and the results in terms of innovation, and integration.
And some great news: Cisco won a Best of VMworld 2010 award in the hardware virtualization category with the Cisco Nexus 7000 Overlay Transportation Virtualization solution.
