As a new member of the Enterprise Networking’s Solutions Marketing team, I’ll be writing about connectivity to the cloud, Software Defined Networking (SDN) and virtualized routing. Last month, Cisco announced ISR-AX. This new application delivery platform provides granular application visibility, control and optimization, integrated in a single box. ISR-AX helps customers enhance end-user productivity, lower WAN bandwidth costs and simplify IT.
In discussing this new role of the router, application performance management becomes a key component. ISR-AX and AVC (Application Visibility and Control) offers an open platform where we share the network intelligence gathered by Cisco routers with third party tools. Another year, another CiscoLive. This was the last year in the London venue, and since it was the third time we did it, we had a chance to incorporate learning from the previous two years. As a result, I would say the network was quite a success.
The key element of the design, led by Mark McKillop, was the balance between showcasing the latest technology and maintaining the simplicity of the network. This year we had a mixed L2 + L3 core design. This design helped decrease the impact of various parts on each other.
