Shaun Kirby is director of Cisco’s Innovations Architecture Practice within the Internet Business Solutions Group. Shaun is responsible for driving the design of novel business solutions through the innovative application of disruptive technologies. Together with implementation roadmaps, standards and best practices, Shaun empowers clients across industry and geographical boundaries to achieve transformational business improvement. The Innovations Architecture Practice develops robust reference architectures for Cisco’s visionary solutions as well as client specific architectures for implementations in addition to supplying thought leadership and serving as an advisor to guide clients to business success.

Prior to joining Cisco, Shaun served as the Chief Architect for Vitria Technology's Professional Services team. Shaun spearheaded the design and implementation of complex, leading edge information systems for Vitria's flagship customers and facilitated unique Engineering and Field team collaboration yielding new, industry changing products and solutions. In this capacity he played a key role in the visioning for a new technology space that Gartner has named Business Event Management (BEM). In his role as Director of Client Delivery and Quality Assurance at Vitria, he was also responsible for establishing the standards, tools and best practices to enable world class solution delivery capability.

Shaun has also served as a trusted advisor to CIO’s, CTO’s and other technology executives, beginning with his extensive experience as a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting, and has authored thought leadership articles and presentations for a variety of journals and conferences.

Shaun holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Engineering Physics from Princeton University, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from the California Institute of Technology.
