Senior Director, Market Management
Data Center/Virtualization and Switching

Shashi Kiran is the Senior Director, Market Management for Data Center Networking and Enterprise Switching at Cisco. In this position, he is responsible for marketing Cisco's $14B+ Data Center Networking, Virtualization and Switching portfolios. Shashi drives Cisco's data center fabric strategy and focuses on trends like LAN/SAN convergence, Virtualization and Cloud computing. In the Campus, he and his team are responsible for driving the Unified Access strategy focused on wired/wireless convergence and Enterprise core with rich network services, including EnergyWise, UPOE and ecosystem marketing.

Currently Shashi's team spearheads several market leading portfolios including Nexus and Catalyst switching, MDS SAN switches and a host of network services including security, WAN optimization, application networking in physical and virtual form factors.

Previously, Shashi led the the Enterprise Routing team at Cisco as part of Cisco's Borderless Networks initiative. In this position he was responsible for setting the marketing the multi-billion dollar Enterprise routing portfolio and defining the vision and strategic execution for the network as a platform. He also was involved in Cisco's SmartGrid strategy at a conceptual stage focused on Connected Energy.

In his 16-year career, Shashi has held leadership roles in the areas of Product Line Management, Marketing and Sales engineering focusing on Security, Routing, Metro Ethernet, Energy Efficiency and hi-touch services for Enterprise, Service Provider and Public Sector initiatives. Prior to Cisco he worked with Nortel, venture funded start-up Euclid Inc. and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (Dept. of IT, Govt. of India). He was also an editorial consultant and columnist for the Network Magazine (Indian edn.) from 1997-2001 in a honorary capacity.

Kiran has been involved in contributing to standards bodies primarily in security and frequently speaks at Industry events on a diverse range of technology areas. He holds a Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering and a Masters in Business Adminstration in addition to a few industry certifications.
