Ram Appalaraju

Ram Appalaraju is Vice President of Technology and Product Marketing and Solutions Engineering at Cisco’s Data Center Group.  In this role he is responsible for Cisco’s multi-billion dollar data center business consisting of UCS servers, Nexus switching fabrics, SDN and Cloud Networking Services product lines.

He has more than 20 years of experience in IT technology marketing. In addition to successfully executing high growth strategies for major IT companies, he has shared his insight into the needs of enterprise customers by authoring several technical articles and offering extensive consultative guidance to Global 1000 companies on both IT and busines

Ram has held executive management positions at GE, Digital Equipment and HP.  As a Vice President at Hewlett-Packard, Ram led the adaptive enterprise Program – a strategic initiative for IT transformation for enterprise customers Virtualize, Automate and Manage data center infrastructure to enable business application delivery.  Charged with development and execution of IT solutions worldwide, he was responsible for comprehensive value delivery systems for key vertical markets, driving adoption of a broad portfolio of server, software and storage products and services.

Ram also held senior leadership positions in the business critical systems business unit where he headed marketing of enterprise servers, operating environments, and middleware for mission critical solutions
Ram has held CMO position at Isilon, and Meru Networks.  While at Isilon, he spearheaded company effort to align storage solutions with virtualized data centers.  At Meru, he managed corporate marketing efforts through IPO process; from contributing to developing of S1 to ringing of the opening bell at NASDAQ. 

Ram holds a B.S.E.E. from the University of Madras in India and an M.S.E.E. from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended an M.B.A. program at the University of Rhode Island and an executive leadership program at Stanford University.
