I’m a Business Development Manager in Cisco’s consulting engineering organization. This team of 50 or so experts works globally to solve some of the world’s most difficult communication system and application challenges. We report to Cisco’s Chief Technology Officer.
My role is to spot emerging trends in energy innovation and sustainability in order to understand how these may help solve customer challenges or create value where none was considered. I work with Cisco product teams to help them accelerate solution development that leverages these trends. This work enables me to interact with some of the world’s leading thinkers, technologists, community planners and many others.
Prior to joining the office of the CTO, I created the Cisco EnergyWise vision, guided a global cross functional team of experts, and engaged with ecosystem partners to accelerate the convergence of disparate building systems to the Internet Protocol (IP).
I have spent over 10 years with Cisco in several product management and business development roles including product line manager for the Catalyst 4500 series switch. Much of my work focused on new products and solutions for service provider and enterprise customers. I have spent considerable time on new system architectures, Power over Ethernet, Intelligent Buildings, and power related challenges.
I have a BA from the Individualized Major Program at Indiana University. I have an MBA from San Jose State University.
I work from my home office in a passive solar house that my wife and I designed. It’s a US EPA EnergyStar 5 Star Plus home. It has a HERS rating of 58 (They don’t give credit for wood heat).
