Lieutenant Leslie (Les) Thurston is the Assistant Director of the Information & Communications Technology Division for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, headquartered in Jefferson City, Missouri. Thurston joined the Patrol on July 1, 1996, as a member of the 72nd Recruit Class.

After graduating from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop I, Zone 2, Phelps County. He was promoted to corporal in 2006. Thurston transferred to the Training Division, General Headquarters, in 2007. He was promoted to sergeant in 2009 and lieutenant in 2013.

Lieutenant Thurston grew up in Rolla, MO, and earned a bachelor's of science degree in criminal justice from Southeast Missouri State University.
