Kevin Aspell

Kevin Aspell began his career in the social work field, managing a number of community based programs in New York. After years of working in the NYC community, Kevin chose a new direction and began a career in the information technology field, initially working at IBM. After a successful 5 year tenure at IBM, Kevin was recruited for a sales leadership position at ATT, and worked there for 6 years. Kevin also worked for OCTEL, McCaw Cellular (ATT Wireless), and Verbex Voice Systems in sales management positions.

Kevin joined Cisco 12 years ago, initially managing the Cisco Services sales team in the NYC area. After his initial assignment, Kevin moved on to apply his knowledge and expertise to the NE area (Maine-VA.) supporting the Global, Enterprise, Commercial, and Public Sector markets. He successfully managed the Public Sector Services market for a number of years, which included the Education segment. Kevin acquired a vast amount of expertise in this role with respect to the needs and challenges faced by schools and how these can be addressed with technology solutions.

In his current role as Business Development Manager for Education, Kevin serves as the Services subject matter expert for K-12 and Higher Education, and is involved in numerous education initiatives. He has a strong understanding of how technology can enhance innovative teaching and learning approaches.

Kevin also works very closely with the Cisco Foundation providing field support to agencies such as City Year, Citizen Schools, MIND Research, TASC, New Leaders/ New Schools, and Teach for America. He delivered the Keynote Address at Citizen School’s STEM Summit this year. Kevin is also a founding board member of City Year-New York and has been a director there for the last 8 years. He developed a successful Cisco Volunteer Program called, “IT ROCKS”, which provides a turn-key program for Cisco employees to visit their local schools and talk about career opportunities in the science and technology areas.

Kevin has an expertise and is focused on inclusion and diversity at Cisco. He has been the Inclusion & Diversity leader for the Service’s team in the Americas Theatre for the last four years.

Kevin was born and raised in NYC, NY. He received his BA from Manhattan College in NYC, with a major in Sociology and also attended Columbia University. He is currently enrolled in a graduate program in Organization Behavior at NYU.
