Carol Stillman

No Longer at Cisco

Carol Stillman is a Senior Business Development Manager in the America’s Public Sector Theater at Cisco Systems. In her current role, she works primarily with college and university leadership teams on innovation and excellence in using internet technologies to achieve institutional goals. Carol is responsible for developing and fostering the health of strategic relationships across the higher education market segment and the unique interdependencies with government entities.

In her fifteen years at Cisco, Carol has held various positions in the areas of sales and marketing, internet business solutions consulting, and business development across various business groups. Most recently, she created and led Cisco’s Higher Education Executive Exchange program, providing a venue for strategic engagement between Cisco Senior Leadership and select transformative university AVP/CIOs. Additionally, Carol led Cisco’s role in the innovative state-wide initiative with the Commonwealth of Virginia, the “4-VA Initiative” that drove a new shared services business model in the ongoing transformation of higher education. The 4-VA Initiative has become a referenced symbol globally, being highlighted at the World Economic Forum by Cisco Leadership as well as being an awardee of the 2013 Computerworld Honors Program that recognizes those organizations around the world which create and use information technology to promote and advance the public welfare, benefit society and change the world for the better.

Carol also co-led Cisco’s engagement with the National LambdaRail organization that built the first national research and education network based on an equity ownership model, connecting hundreds of colleges, universities, medical schools, teaching hospitals, as well as K-12 schools and various government agencies. Throughout this effort, she was an active participant with the National LambdaRail Board of Directors.

Carol currently participates on the ACUTA Higher Education Leadership Advisory Council, is a working member of the Economic Development Advisory Board for the Horizon Report produced by New Media Consortium, is the senior liaison with leadership of the Educause Higher Education Association, and is a member in the National Association of Professional Women.

Prior to joining Cisco, she held sales and sales management positions at Group Bull Worldwide Information Systems and Siemens Business Communications. She has been recognized for sales and sales management excellence awards at the national and global level.

She is a frequent speaker for key universities and business groups, and is actively engaged in mentoring other women in technology at Cisco and across the San Francisco Bay Area.

Carol holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Michigan State University.
