Van Dang

Vice President, Law and Deputy General Counsel

Van T. Dang is Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Cisco Systems, Inc. in San Jose, Calif. She currently manages a team responsible for a number of areas in Legal including Digital Media and Content Licensing; Privacy and Data Protection; Consumer, Retail and Subscription Business Group. She is also responsible for directing and managing the training and development for the Legal team. In her previous roles in Legal, Van's areas of responsibilities included managing teams providing support for Cisco's M&A activities, technology groups, marketing, manufacturing, strategic alliances, global procurement, other non-sale related functions. In addition, she managed the legal IT, knowledge management and operations group.

Van joined Cisco in 1996 through the Stratacom acquisition. Prior to Cisco, Van was Vice President, Corporate Counsel of Maxtor Corporation from 1992 to1996. Previous to that, Van was a corporate associate at Pillsbury Winthrop LLP (formerly, Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro).

Van received a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and a B.A. from the University of California, Irvine. She serves on the High Tech Advisory Board at Santa Clara University School of Law and on the Board of Advisors of the Santa Clara Computer and High Technology Law Journal.

Van participates on a number of Boards and Councils at Cisco, including the Communication and Collaboration Board and Inclusion and Diversity Council.

Van is a Cisco Community Fellow and has a passion for public interest work. She is on the Board of Directors of the Silicon Valley Education Foundation; the NOVA Workforce Board; and Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
