Guido Jouret

Based in San Jose, California, Guido Jouret is the Vice President and General Manager (VP/GM) of the Enterprise Video Group, with the responsibility for planning and developing and Cisco’s video solutions and medianet architecture efforts. His responsibility includes overseeing the Media Experience and Analytics (MXABU), the Physical Security (PSBU) and the Digital Media Systems (DMSBU) business units.

Dr. Jouret is also the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Cisco’s Emerging Technologies Group (ETG), which is responsible for incubating Cisco’s future billion-dollar businesses. In this role, he evaluates new product, process and market opportunities, ensures architectural integration between the emerging technologies and Cisco’s core and advanced products, and is responsible for developing and communicating Cisco’s thought leadership on new, innovative technologies. He led and developed the company’s Video and Smart Grid technology strategies. He is a dynamic and engaging speaker, consistently rated among the company’s top 5 presenters and is frequently asked to present the company’s emerging technologies strategy and vision to top customers and conferences.

Prior to his role as VP/GM and CTO, Dr. Jouret was the global head of the Innovation Team of Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG). His team was responsible for developing new methods, architectures, and business cases to help Cisco’s key customers successfully adopt Internet-based technologies.

Prior to this role, he held a similar position for the Asia Pacific region, where he worked with Asia’s leading corporations and governments, advising them on how they could best develop IT strategies to leverage the latest technologies.

Prior to his position in IBSG, Dr. Jouret was responsible for developing and maintaining information systems for Cisco’s sites in the EMEA (Europe Middle-East and Africa) theater, heading up a team of 600 IT specialists, with a budget responsibility exceeding $100 million. Dr. Jouret was in charge of defining Cisco EMEA’s IT strategy, communication, implementation and coordination of the activities of a distributed multinational team. His team was responsible for delivering all IT infrastructure and applications for Cisco in EMEA. Specific areas of responsibility included: Networking & Telecoms, Datacenter, Security, Help Desk, Desktop, Operations, and applications areas (Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR). Global application implementations included Oracle Financials, PeopleSoft, and Siebel. He also out-tasked application development, desktop services, and various other IT functions using a core vs. context analysis methodology.

Prior to joining Cisco, Dr. Jouret was responsible for IT in the R&D division of Beaufour-Ipsen Pharmaceutical Group. Before that, he worked as a software coordinator at the London Parallel Applications Centre where he developed the company’s software strategy. He commenced his career as a research associate at the Imperial College for Science, Technology and Medicine, London.

Dr. Jouret has a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (MA, USA), a DIC (Diploma of Imperial College) and a PhD in Computing from Imperial College (UK).
