Earl Carter is a security researcher that performs security evaluations on Cisco products as a member of the Cisco's Strategic Technology Assurance Team (STAT).

Earl became actively involved in computer and network security when he joined the Air Force Information Warfare Center in 1996. In 1999, Earl joined Cisco and worked on the development of the Intrusion Detection software as a signature developer and security researcher. From there, he became a member of STAT. During his time at Cisco, Earl has authored or co-authored the following Cisco Press Security books:

Non-security activities includes being actively involved in scouting where he serves as the troop Chaplain, ATA Taekwondo where he currently holds a third degree black belt, and being a youth minister at church for high school students.
