Chief Marketing and Communications Officer & Worldwide Government Affairs
Blair Christie is Chief Marketing Officer for Cisco, with responsibility for the company’s Global Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Government Affairs groups. Previous to this appointment, she was Senior Vice President of Global Corporate Communications, focused on shaping the company’s reputation and perception. Her responsibilities included leadership of Cisco’s global investor relations, public and media relations, industry analyst relations, and employee and executive communications. She also managed Cisco’s global studios and Web 2.0/collaboration technology strategy teams, rounding out an organization designed to integrate the message and the medium in communications. She is an executive sponsor for Cisco’s Communication and Collaboration Board, the cross-functional team responsible for guiding the deployment of Web 2.0 and social networking technologies throughout Cisco.
Under Christie’s leadership, Cisco’s Corporate Communications group was founded in 2006 by consolidating communications functions spread across Cisco. Since then, Cisco has received several awards from the International Association of Business Communicators, including the 2010 Gold Quill award for internal communications and a 2008 Silver Quill award for Cisco’s Virtual Company Meeting. Her team has received numerous “Inspire Awards” for Employee Communications from the League of American Communications Professionals and has been recognized by PR News with a Platinum award for “Best Places to Work in PR.”
Previously at Cisco, Christie led the global investor relations team, where she was recognized by Treasury Risk and Management as one of “The Top 40 Under 40” U.S. financial executives to watch. Under her leadership, Institutional Investor recognized Cisco as having the top investor relations team in the communications equipment industry for five years in a row. And during her leadership, Investor Relations magazine and Barron’s awarded her team “Best Overall Investor Relations Program,” “Best Investor Relations by a CEO,” and “Best Senior Management Communications.”
Prior to joining Cisco, Christie was responsible for investor relations at InterDigital Communications Corporation and Aqua America, where her responsibilities also included government/public affairs and corporate giving efforts.
At Cisco, Christie sits on the Enterprise Business Council, Women’s Advisory Group Board, EcoBoard, and Connecting Sichuan Board and is an executive sponsor of the San Jose Women’s Action Network. She is also a board member of the San Jose Tech Museum, a member of the Corporate Reputation Management Advisory Council at Drexel University, and a member of the Arthur Page Society. In 2009, Christie was named by Working Mother magazine as a Working Mother of the Year.
Christie holds a bachelor of science degree in marketing and business administration and a master of business administration degree, concentrating in investment management, from Drexel University.
