So in the demo we see a Wind turbine going out of specification. The demo shows live dynamic telemetry data. Steve Matthews resets the data to cause a malfunction and cause an alert. You see the data change – the top right bar goes from green to yellow, basically a temperature alert. An SMS message is transmitted and, in this case, a telephone rings alerting the Control Room staff. Read More »
Today I had the pleasure of talking with Steve Matthews about Cisco’s Industrial Workforce Enablement demo. Steve is a Cisco consulting engineer with expertise in Borderless Networks; he is based in Manchester, UK.
In this video Steve is telling me about the demo that features real time data analysis and Cisco UC and networking technologies that enable real-time events to be captured and/or acted upon. We are using the application software to capture real time data from, in this case, a wind farm, and that data is both analyzed and stored and alerts are sent.
The demonstration shows the integration between OSISoft (one of Cisco’s Partners in the industrial telemetry and asset management field) integrated with Cisco cross-architectures: so we have Borderless networks, Data Center and Collaboration technologies. We also have an application called CEBT – which is a workforce enablement application. Read More »
Cisco Live! It’s always an exciting time – real customers, sharing real world experiences, looking for news that will make their networks stronger, faster, more capable, more efficient. And for this Yank, visiting ExCeL London in the heart of London’s Royal Docks for the first time, it’s a special treat.
There are a number of announcements coming out of Cisco Live this week – two that build on the story we’ve been telling about the Catalyst 6500… a new 40 Gigabit Ethernet module and 160 Gbps per slot performance in existing Catalyst 6500 E-Series chassis.
a) Every second, one hour of video is being uploaded to YouTube.
b) Four years from now, there will be 7.1 billion mobile connected devices.
c) By 2015, Internet traffic volume will be the equivalent of downloading every movie ever made.
d) All of the above.
I’ll give you a moment to ponder…give up? The answer is d: all of the above.
Are your customers ready for this influx of data, video, and devices? Not to worry. Cisco has you—and your customers’ networks—covered.
Today, Cisco is again leading in switching innovation by supporting 100, 40, and 10 Gigabit over Ethernet (GE) for Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches. These advancements are fully scalable, intelligent, and cloud-ready—and apply to the campus and data center.
For partners, this provides a very profitable opportunity to help customers improve and upgrade their networks as they embrace cloud computing and mobility, continue to load up the network with video, and struggle to get their arms around the data deluge.
So how do you begin the conversation with customers? Read More »
