The Power of In-Person

Yesterday I delivered a keynote presentation at Enterprise Connect in Orlando, where touched upon the importance of in-person communications.  I’ve recorded a video where I reflect further on how in-person communications are key to business leaders who are dealing a whole new set of business imperatives for success — solving complex problems quickly, effectively scaling partner interactions, growing customer relationships, enabling agile innovations.   A powerful way of driving innovation and transforming key business processes is by engaging the experience, perspectives and knowledge of colleagues and individuals across your business community via in-person communication and collaboration.

The last new things in MPI-3

I know we’ve been talking about new MPI-3 things for forever.  But this is the last list of new things.

I promise.


I can say this with certainly because the Forum’s March meeting was the deadline for all new proposals to make it into the MPI-3 standard.  Anything else will have to be in MPI-<next> (where <next> may be 3.1, or 4, or …11.  Shrug).

Because of the deadline, we had a blizzard of proposals finally get into shape to be presented to the entire Forum.  Let’s talk about some of the more interesting ones…

Recently I was chatting with a couple of people at an event in Shoreditch about what makes a creative industry cluster — such as Silicon Alley and the East London Tech City — flourish and grow.  We concluded that there are some key ingredients required to fully develop the community; the presence of Big Tech, legal, accountants, VC’s, and of course start-ups operated by savvy entrepreneurs.
